Aleksandr Gusev, the governor of Voronezh Oblast, confirmed on Sunday that air defense units intercepted 113 drones across the region during a nighttime attack. The total count includes more than 70 drones downed directly over the city of Voronezh and the remainder shot down in surrounding districts. Gusev told Interfax that the engagement was largely successful, describing the incidents as occurring without major consequences.
Ukrainian open-source intelligence channels Supernova+ and Exilenova+ identified two specific industrial targets. The Voronezhsintezkauchuk plant, part of the Sibur group, was struck along with the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association, known as VASO. VASO operates under the Ilyushin Aviation Complex division of the United Aircraft Corporation and manufactures components for the Ilyushin Il-96 airliner.
Gusev did not name these specific companies in his initial statement. Instead, he reported fires in a business center, an apartment building, two dacha settlements, a school stadium, and a garage cooperative. He noted that damage to facades and windows was recorded in nearly every district of the city.
Russian media outlet Astra provided specific location data for the impacts. The publication reported a drone hit on the Galereya Chizhova business center at 35A Koltsovskaya Street. It also identified explosion sites near residential buildings at 52A 25th Yanvarya Street and 4K Arkhitektora Troitskovo Street. Additional damage was documented at the Uritsky residential complex on 135 Uritskovo Street.
At a car park on 275/1 45th Strelkovoy Divizii Street, at least ten vehicles caught fire. Astra readers reported hearing explosions and the sounds of air defense operations for over an hour. The city remained shrouded in smoke throughout the engagement. Residents stated that no formal air-raid warning was issued before the strikes began.
The attack targeted facilities linked to Russia's aviation and petrochemical sectors. Local authorities are currently assessing the full extent of the damage to public and private property.
