Arsenal forward Alessia Russo scored three goals against Benfica on Wednesday to become the all-time leading English scorer in the UEFA Women's Champions League. Her penalty in the match marked her 24th career goal in the competition. This total surpasses the previous record of 21 goals held by Fran Kirby.
The three-goal performance extends Russo's scoring streak to seven goals in six matches for Arsenal. The win came after a North London derby against Tottenham in the Women's Super League. Russo recorded her first Champions League hat trick during this campaign.
