By Nikolai Morales ·

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced on Friday that 281 suspects were arrested during a coordinated enforcement operation targeting human trafficking and child sexual predators. The joint initiative was conducted over a period of seven days and focused on identifying individuals who travel to the area to engage in unlawful sexual activity with children.
Among those apprehended were 17 employees working at major theme parks in the region. Sheriff Judd specified that 13 of the suspects were employed by Disney World, while four were staff members at Universal Studios. The sheriff stated that these individuals were included in the total count of suspects detained during the operation.
During a press conference held on Friday, Judd detailed the scope of the investigation. He noted that 31 of the arrested suspects had traveled to the county specifically to have sex with a child. The operation utilized undercover tactics to identify and capture these predators in the act.
The sheriff highlighted that the arrests included individuals from various backgrounds and professions. He reported that 32 of the suspects were undocumented immigrants. As of the announcement, 16 of these individuals had already been transferred to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further processing.
Additional details regarding the suspects revealed that 24 of them brought firearms to their scheduled meetings with undercover officers. Furthermore, nine of the arrested individuals were currently on probation at the time of their apprehension, adding to the complexity of their legal situations.
Judd shared specific examples of the suspects to illustrate the nature of the crimes. One suspect was identified as the head coach of the Florida team, the Davenport Titans, where he coached children between the ages of 11 and 14. The sheriff said this individual believed he was traveling to meet a 14-year-old girl.
Another suspect was on active duty in the Navy. In a separate case, a former Disney employee who had worked as a Mickey Mouse character was arrested. Law enforcement officers found the man with two backpacks full of diapers, a detail the sheriff described as part of his specific interests.
The sheriff also described the arrest of a current Disney employee who was found with his uniform in his car. This individual was meeting an undercover detective who was posing as a 13-year-old boy. These cases underscore the varied methods used by suspects to approach their targets.
Sheriff Judd expressed strong feelings about the findings of the operation. He stated in a written statement that it is extremely disturbing to encounter child predators who are eager to have sex with children. He emphasized that such undercover operations are necessary to address these issues effectively.
The sheriff confirmed that Disney cooperated with law enforcement throughout the investigation. According to Judd, the company informed him that all employees involved in the arrests have since been fired. This swift action by the employer was part of the broader response to the enforcement operation.
