The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday to secure the first World Series championship in the franchise's history. The victory ends the regular season but begins a period of uncertainty for Major League Baseball, as the collective bargaining agreement expires at midnight on December 1.

Colton Gordon, a member of Team Israel, made one appearance for Milwaukee during the 2026 season. That single game made him eligible to receive a championship ring. Gordon was present in the dugout when the Brewers won the series. The team's success is often attributed to former owner and commissioner emeritus Bud Selig, whose statue stands outside American Family Field.

With the World Series concluded, the offseason has begun. Awards ceremonies and free agent negotiations will proceed before the potential lockout takes effect. Chicago Cubs third baseman Alex Bregman is a finalist for the National League Gold Glove Award. He previously won the American League version of the award with Houston in 2024. Max Fried, a four-time winner, was not selected this year.

Bregman, 32, is also a candidate for the NL Silver Slugger Award. He hit 19 home runs and drove in 52 runs after the All-Star break. Those numbers could also earn him votes for the NL Most Valuable Player Award. Texas Rangers designated hitter Joc Pederson is a contender for the AL Comeback Player of the Year. After a poor 2025 season, Pederson hit 26 home runs and posted an .816 OPS in 2026.

Pederson holds a mutual option with the Rangers for $18.5 million. If either side declines the option, he will enter free agency. Rowdy Tellez is also a free agent after spending most of 2026 in Triple-A and playing in three playoff games for the Atlanta Braves.

In other sports news, the St. Louis Blues condemned signs held by fans at a recent game. The signs read "Israel Kills" and "Free America from Israel." Owner Tom Stillman called the messages "vile messages of hate" that were "unfortunate and unforgivable." The fans were ejected from the arena.

Liel Abada scored three goals in 18 minutes on Wednesday. His hat trick helped Charlotte FC win 4-0 to clinch a playoff spot. Idan Toklomati assisted on Abada's second goal. Abada described Toklomati as "a great player, a great lad," and expressed happiness over their connection on the field. Davidson College basketball coach Matt McKillop and two players also spoke with Rabbi Erez Sherman about their recent trip to Berlin.
