A delivery driver and a former schoolmate reunite in Tesco's new Christmas advertisement, which premiered on ITV1 on November 1. The three-minute film centers on a chance meeting that resolves a common holiday mistake. The narrative relies on the premise that personal relationships matter more than flawless logistics.
The commercial runs for three minutes and features The Police song "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" as its soundtrack. It joins Tesco's "Need Anything From Tesco?" campaign, a branding effort launched earlier in 2026. The ad is part of a wider seasonal push by the retailer.
Anna Maxwell Martin, known for roles in Line of Duty and Motherland, plays Lizzie. Roisin Conaty, a star of Last One Laughing, plays Polly, a Tesco delivery driver. In the story, Lizzie sends her Christmas Eve shopping to the wrong address. Polly, driving through snow, suggests they meet at a motorway service station. The two recognize each other as old friends.
When Lizzie's car breaks down, Polly gives her a lift in the Tesco van. The pair spend the journey talking and laughing. Polly apologizes for a past incident, and Lizzie responds that it was a long time ago. They end the trip with an emotional hug. The scene emphasizes the comfort of old friendships.
Anna Maxwell Martin said the ad depicts a typical Christmas error, such as forgetting wrapping paper or misaddressing a package. She stated that the production acknowledges the pursuit of a perfect holiday but highlights that human connection creates the magic. "Suddenly you realise you've somehow only ordered one singular sprout, totally forgotten wrapping paper, or sent a delivery to the wrong address," she said.
Roisin Conaty noted that the story starts with stress but shows how a small act of kindness can bring people together. She described the reunion as a celebration of grace and the specific silliness shared only with old friends. The ad aligns with the company's goal of helping customers make the holiday season happen.
Suzanne Quinn, UK Customer Director at Tesco, said the company is offering extra help this Christmas. She mentioned deals on products, exclusive food and drink, and festive experiences. The aim is to assist customers in achieving their best possible holiday.
