Martha Stewart issued a second apology on Instagram this week.

The 85-year-old businesswoman admitted her earlier explanation did not go far enough.

Stewart dressed as a person experiencing homelessness for Halloween.

She wore a flannel shirt, ripped jeans, and a beanie with makeup that looked like dirt on her face.

She held a cardboard sign that read 'I AM HUNGRY HELP ME!!'

The photo appeared in an Instagram carousel promoting her QVC Halloween and holiday candles.

The caption for the post read 'My QVC candles are perfect for Halloween!!!!!'

Followers quickly criticized the choice as tone deaf.

Actress Indya Moore, 31, responded to Stewart's initial defense.

Stewart had originally said the costume was designed to bring the homeless and hungry to everyone's mind.

She wrote that it certainly did so but not in the correct way because she did not explain it.

Stewart ended that first statement by asking her critics if they also supported causes that care about the issue.', "Moore argued that Halloween is for caricatures like monsters and villains, not demographics in need.', "She stated that a rich woman dressing as a hungry person highlights how out of touch wealth can make people appear.', "Moore suggested that Stewart should use her resources to support meaningful action on poverty.', "Stewart shared a new statement on her own account to address the ongoing criticism.', "She wrote that it is hard to admit when you have really screwed up.', "Stewart acknowledged that many people are suffering economically.', "She described wearing the costume as insensitive and not funny.', "She signed the new post simply as 'Martha.'', "Some followers accepted the second apology as a sign of accountability.', "Others remained unconvinced by the response.', "One fan questioned why none of her professional team or friends warned her before the post went live.', "Another commenter with 25 years of public relations experience suggested she donate to a homeless shelter instead of issuing another statement.', "Supporters noted that Stewart is 85 years old and willing to take responsibility for her mistake.', "Metro has contacted representatives for Stewart for comment on the incident.
