More than 1,000 entrepreneurs and investors gathered at the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor on Tuesday. They attended the 2026 Entrepreneur Expo, an event organized by the Maryland Technology Development Corporation, or TEDCO. The gathering focused on a new state strategy to channel venture capital into emerging companies.
Senate President Bill Ferguson and TEDCO CEO Troy LeMaile-Stovall presented a package of legislative and financial proposals during the event. Their goal is to accelerate the state’s innovation economy. The plan targets startups in three specific sectors: life sciences, artificial intelligence, and clean technologies. These industries are currently central to the state's growth efforts.
The strategy aims to create high-skill jobs in the Baltimore metropolitan area. It also seeks to strengthen financing networks for founders from minority and underrepresented communities. TEDCO leadership stated that the right mix of public policy and strategic investment will allow Maryland to lead the future economy.
State officials argued that this approach will improve the region's competitiveness against other technology hubs in the United States. The agenda included business rounds and panels on business scalability. The full list of state financing details is available on the TEDCO 2026 Entrepreneur Expo portal. Additional information on local startup support is accessible through the organization's YouTube channel.
