Jalayshia Alford, 10, has not been seen since last week. On Tuesday, police and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents spent the day collecting evidence on the 500 block of North Simpson Street in West Philadelphia. The team is focusing on the home where the girl was placed in foster care. Sources indicate investigators are sorting through conflicting accounts to establish a timeline of her last known movements.
Family members say the search has been a difficult week. Her aunt, Nyfisha Allford, described the situation as horrible for a child her age. Allford noted that it is crazy for Jalayshia to be missing this many days. The aunt expressed concern that the family is dealing with a mental health issue while worrying about two lives.
Allford explained that although the family has not seen Jalayshia in two years, they previously tried to gain custody. She recalled that Department of Human Services officials visited their home to evaluate it. After the visit, Allford said the family was ignored. Authorities have stated they are concerned for the girl's safety. They are urging anyone with information to contact them.
Jalayshia stands 4 feet, 11 inches tall and wears glasses. She was last seen wearing a blue school uniform. The search continues as agents work to piece together the events leading to her disappearance.
