DuPage County voters will choose a new sheriff on November 3, replacing a veteran official who declined to run for a third term. The November 3 general election includes contests for the Illinois governor's office, multiple congressional seats, and several county-level positions.

Republican James Mendrick served as sheriff before opting out of the race. He previously sought the Republican nomination for governor but did not secure the party's endorsement. His departure opened the seat to a competitive general election that follows a contentious Republican primary.

The primary featured Eddie Moore, the county undersheriff, who faced scrutiny over past incidents involving a car crash and a bar dispute. Sean Noonan defeated Moore in that earlier vote. Noonan now faces Democrat Peter Coolidge in the general election. The current race for sheriff is described as quieter than the primary contest.

Wheaton residents will also decide two congressional races on their ballots. In the 3rd Congressional District, Delia Ramsey and Angel Oakley are competing. In the 6th Congressional District, Conforti and Casten are set for a rematch. Statewide, Juliana Stratton faces Don Tracy for the U.S. Senate seat.

Several DuPage County government offices are up for grabs. Incumbent County Board President Deb Conroy faces Republican Gary Grasso. Conroy was first elected in 2022 and became the board's first female chair. County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek defends her seat against Paula Deacon Garcia, while Treasurer Gwen Henry runs against Yeena Yoo.

Voters in the 18th Judicial Circuit will also address judicial retention. Incumbent Judge Christina Kye defends her seat in the fourth subdistrict against Republican Michael W. Fleming. Other statewide races include the Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller, and Treasurer positions, all featuring Democratic incumbents against Republican challengers.

Early voting began on October 19 at locations across DuPage County. Additional sites opened on October 21 with expanded hours. Residents can vote at any polling place within the county limits. For those voting by mail, applications were due by October 29. Ballots must be postmarked or placed in a dropbox by November 3 to be counted. The Wheaton dropbox is located at the DuPage County Fairgrounds.
