Apple will release iOS 27.2 to the public next week.

The update follows iOS 27.1, which was limited to the iPhone Duo. This makes 27.2 the first major software release for the wider iPhone lineup. Three new features distinguish this version from previous builds.

FaceTime users gain the ability to use dual cameras during group calls. The Dual Capture feature debuted with iOS 27 but was restricted to one-on-one conversations. The new update extends that capability to group chats. On compatible models, users can tap the Flip button to activate the rear camera while keeping the front camera live. This allows participants to see both the speaker and their surroundings simultaneously.

The Apple Podcasts app receives a structural overhaul of its queue system. The current Up Next section at the top of the Home tab is being replaced by two distinct categories. The first, New Episodes, lists the latest releases from shows a user follows. Directly below it sits a new section called Continue Playing. This area consolidates shows that a listener has started but not finished. A 9to5Mac writer who tested the beta described the old layout as cluttered. They stated the new arrangement helps users track their listening more effectively.

The Apple TV app on iPhone introduces user profiles for the first time. While these features have existed on tvOS devices, iOS had not supported them. After installing the update, users will see a profile selection screen upon opening the app. This screen can be disabled if the user prefers a single view. Once a profile is active, the app filters its content recommendations to match that specific viewer. A child profile will display only age-appropriate series and movies from Apple. This separation keeps an adult’s viewing queue clean and prevents children from seeing unsuitable material on a parent’s device.

Apple reports that iOS 27.2 includes new features in six different iPhone apps. The update is scheduled for distribution next week.
