Amanda Seyfried has been named a new house ambassador for Tiffany & Co. The actress debuts in the role through a holiday campaign called "Love is a Gift," which arrives with a new short film titled You & Me.

The film was directed by Derek Cianfrance, whose credits include Roofman, The Light Between Oceans, The Place Beyond the Pines and Blue Valentine. It was produced with creative agency American Haiku and production company Radical Media, and the cinematography is by Arseni Khachaturan.

The story moves between present-day New York and a holiday memory from the 1990s. According to the house, it "explores how a gift from Tiffany & Co. can become an heirloom that carries memories, traditions and connections from one generation to the next."

The plot begins in an Upper East Side townhouse, where a woman decorating a Christmas tree finds a Tiffany Blue Box marked with a date in December 1992. The box carries her back to a December day in New York that has stayed with her. In that memory, her mother, wearing Tiffany HardWear, hands her a Blue Box containing a hand-painted Bird on a Rock ornament.

That ornament was made only for the film, in collaboration with production designer Karen Murphy. It draws on the house's well-known Bird on a Rock design, originally created by Jean Schlumberger in 1965. The film is set to a rendition of the Wannadies' "You & Me Song," which the source dates to 1984.

Seyfried said she was thrilled to join the Tiffany & Co. family and to take part in a campaign that celebrates love, family and traditions passed through generations. "You & Me captures beautifully how a meaningful gift can hold memories and become part of a family's story," she said, adding that it was special to bring that idea to life with Tiffany this holiday season. She most recently wore Tiffany & Co. to the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles.

Anthony Ledru, president and CEO of Tiffany & Co., welcomed her to the brand. "Amanda effortlessly embodies the joy, style and sophistication that have defined Tiffany & Co. for nearly 190 years," he said. "We are proud to welcome her to the Tiffany family."

The appointment comes at a time when Seyfried is a frequent topic of conversation among moviegoers.
