114,248 Maryland Recipients: November SSI Check Lands Oct. 30
Baltimore households face a 31-day gap between the early deposit and the next payment on Dec. 1.

114,248 Supplemental Security Income recipients in Maryland will see their November funds arrive on Friday, Oct. 30, rather than in the month of November. The Social Security Administration moved the payment date because Nov. 1 falls on a Sunday. Under federal rules, benefits due on a weekend or holiday are issued on the preceding business day.
This scheduling change creates a financial gap for many beneficiaries. The next SSI payment is not scheduled until Dec. 1. That leaves a 31-day stretch between the Oct. 30 deposit and the following check. For the roughly 31,000 Marylanders who also receive Social Security, a second deposit arrives on Nov. 3, but pure SSI recipients will wait a full month.
The situation is most acute in Baltimore City. The jurisdiction holds about 27% of the state’s SSI beneficiaries. In December 2024, those recipients collected approximately $88.2 million statewide. Rent and utility bills typically come due on the first of the month, so the Oct. 30 payment often appears as an early windfall. Beneficiaries must budget that amount as their November income to bridge the gap.
The payment schedule for the coming months follows this pattern. Recipients receive one payment on Oct. 30. No SSI funds arrive during the calendar month of November. December brings two payments: one on Dec. 1 for that month, and one on Dec. 31 for January. The Dec. 31 deposit must cover all expenses through the end of January.
SSI is a needs-based federal program for individuals with limited income and assets. Eligible groups include those who are 65 or older, blind, or disabled, as well as children. The program provides a safety net, but the timing of deposits dictates cash flow for thousands of households. The agency’s headquarters sits in Woodlawn, Baltimore County, but the payment rules apply nationally.
The 2027 cost-of-living adjustment is set at 3.6%. The SSA confirmed this increase applies to both SSI and Social Security. The maximum federal SSI payment for an individual will rise from $994 in 2026 to $1,029 in 2027. For couples, the maximum will increase from $1,491 to $1,544. Actual monthly amounts often fall below these caps due to countable income.
Maryland’s optional state supplement does not apply to most residents. That extra funding is limited to aged, blind, or disabled individuals living in specific care homes or assisted living facilities. Those who live independently receive only the federal amount. Applications for the state supplement go through local departments of social services, not the SSA.
If a payment does not arrive by Oct. 30, the SSA advises allowing three additional mailing days before contacting the agency. Beneficiaries can call 1-800-772-1213, check their my Social Security accounts, or visit a local field office. The agency also warns recipients to watch for scams, as early payment dates are a common hook for fraudsters seeking personal details.
