The Jaguars, now 0-2, raced ahead on layups from Lionel Bell and Duran Parish, who also added a three-point play. TCU immediately responded, outscoring Southern 13-5 to take the lead, a position it never relinquished. The final score was 106-54 in favor of the Horned Frogs.
Micah Robinson led the scoring with 18 points, shooting 5 of 6 from the field and 4 of 5 from beyond the arc. Xavier Edmonds and Brock Harding each recorded double-doubles. For the third time in his career, he matched his personal best in assists.
Tanner Toolson added 13 points for TCU, which improved to 2-0. DJ Thomas and reserve Gavin Sykes each scored 11. On the other side, Justin Page and Aaron Hall led Southern with eight points each. Harding’s three-pointer with 7:28 remaining in the first half gave TCU its first double-digit lead at 29-19.
The Horned Frogs now hold a 3-0 all-time record against Southern. Their previous meeting in the 2023-24 season ended with a 108-75 TCU victory. The program has won 50 of 51 games against current Southwestern Athletic Conference members. TCU hosts UL Monroe on Tuesday, while Southern travels to Drake on Sunday.
