Pueblo Weather: 80-degree Friday ends before 30-degree drop

A cold front sweeping through Colorado on Friday, Oct. 23, will push weekend highs into the 50s and raise the likelihood of rain across the region.

Pueblo residents should enjoy a final day of warmth before a sharp drop in temperature arrives.

The city is forecast to reach 80 degrees on Friday, Oct. 23. A cold front crossing Colorado will lower Saturday's high to the 50s. This represents a 30-degree decline in just 24 hours. Morning temperatures will start in the 50s. Clouds should break by 10 a.m. to allow for afternoon sunshine.

Rain chances remain low for most of the region on Friday. The south side of Pueblo has a 10% to 20% chance of precipitation. Canon City may see a few afternoon showers with a 20% to 30% probability. Most other locations are expected to stay dry. The front is expected to generate storms farther south and east as it moves.

Neighboring areas will experience similar patterns. Colorado Springs will top out at 73 degrees with a low of 47. Woodland Park is forecast for a high of 58 and a low of 39. The Tri-Lakes area, including Monument, will reach 69 degrees. Farther south, Walsenburg and Trinidad will hit 73 and 74 degrees, respectively. These southern locations will see their warmest day of the week before temperatures fall.

The eastern plains may see thunderstorms return by Friday evening. Afternoon temperatures there will reach the 70s and 80s. Mountain highs will stay in the 60s with lows in the 30s. Forecasters noted that lingering moisture and flooding remain concerns in southwestern Colorado. Water levels in that area may take time to recede.

Conditions are expected to improve by the following week. Sunshine and partly cloudy skies are likely to return. Temperatures will gradually warm into the 60s. The preliminary Halloween outlook suggests dry weather with highs in the 50s and 60s.
