The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles face off Monday night in Philadelphia, both holding identical 2-4 records. The matchup occurs during a historic slump for the NFC East, which has gone without a single win in the last two weeks. According to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth, this is the first time a division has gone winless in a two-week span since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.
The New York Giants currently lead the division with a 3-2-1 record. The Cowboys and Eagles sit just behind them, each seeking a victory to stay within reach of the top spot. The division's collective failure to win over the past fortnight highlights the open nature of the race, despite the recent string of losses for the top contenders.
Philadelphia is in a deeper hole, currently on a four-game losing streak, its first since 2020. The offense has scored only 58 points across those four games. Quarterback Jalen Hurts is on injured reserve and will miss the rest of the season due to blood clots. Backup Tanner McKee, who spent most of his first two seasons behind Hurts, takes the reins for the Eagles.
McKee's previous starts came after the team had already secured a playoff spot. Last week's loss to Carolina was his first meaningful start, following only two days of first-team practice. He now has a full week to prepare with first-year offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. McKee stated he has a good preparation process and plans to spend more time with the coaching staff.
The Eagles' running back corps is decimated. Saquon Barkley has missed more than two games with a hamstring injury. His backups, Will Shipley and Tank Bigsby, are also hurt. Carson Steele, signed from the practice squad, injured his shoulder against Carolina. Dameon Pierce was the only back to carry the ball in that game, rushing for 35 yards. Dallas allows 4.7 yards per carry this season.
Dallas faces its own challenges, ranking 30th in the league on defense under first-year coordinator Christian Parker. The offense scored just 29 points in its last two losses, including a 23-13 defeat to Green Bay. The team has scored fewer than 20 points in consecutive starts by Dak Prescott for the first time since 2019. Owner Jerry Jones said Wednesday at the NFL's fall meeting that he does not expect further coaching changes this season.
Several individual records are in play. Javonte Williams is the second Cowboys player with seven rushing touchdowns through six games, behind Emmitt Smith. CeeDee Lamb has 48 receptions, the most in franchise history through six games. Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert needs one catch to reach third place on the franchise's career receptions list.
The Cowboys are favored by four points and are 3-3 against the spread, while the Eagles are 1-5. Dallas leads the all-time series 72-58 and won the last meeting 24-21 on Nov. 23, 2025. Kickoff is at 7:15 p.m. CST on ESPN. The Eagles play Washington on Nov. 1 before hosting the Giants to conclude the divisional stretch.
