Michael Porter Jr. scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Brooklyn Nets past the Charlotte Hornets, 114-104, on Wednesday night. The result marked the second win for Brooklyn this season after they lost six of their first seven games.

The Nets had trailed by seven points at the halftime break. They outscored Charlotte in the final two quarters to take the lead. Julius Randle added 22 points for the visitors. Mikel Brown Jr. contributed 18 points, while Nolan Traore scored 16 and Danny Wolf added 13. Brooklyn shot 51% from the field and 38% from three-point range.

The Hornets struggled to respond. Naz Reid scored 28 points on 11-of-18 shooting. Grayson Allen added 22 points. Brandon Miller and Sion James each scored 10 points. Charlotte has lost five straight games after starting the season 3-1.

Kon Knueppel made his season debut for the Hornets on Wednesday. He left the game in the first quarter due to soreness in his left leg. He played six minutes and scored three points on 3-for-3 free throws. Knueppel led the league in three-pointers last year and was the runner-up for rookie of the year.

The Hornets host the Boston Celtics on Friday. The Nets travel to Atlanta on Saturday for the first game of a four-game road trip.
