Fujifilm has unveiled the Instax Mini Evo 2, a hybrid instant camera that introduces a touchscreen interface and basic video capabilities to its product line. The device positions itself as a digital camera with an integrated printer, aiming to blend modern digital controls with the tactile experience of instant photography.

The new model addresses previous hardware limitations by installing a 1/2.77-inch sensor, a substantial upgrade from the 1/5-inch sensor found in the first generation Mini Evo. This larger sensor supports a 4.5-inch rear display that covers the entire back of the device. Users can operate the camera through this touchscreen or via two physical dials and a film-style print lever, which Fujifilm retained to maintain a classic aesthetic.

Video recording is now possible, though the feature operates under specific constraints. The camera captures MP4 clips at 560 by 992 pixels and 24 frames per second. These files save exclusively to a microSD card, as internal storage is reserved for still images. The video function records only the seconds leading up to a photo and does not capture audio, according to DPReview.

The interface offers ten film effects and ten lens effects, accessible through either the touchscreen or the physical dials. While the specific effects have changed slightly from the predecessor, the core creative options remain. An Expanded View mode provides a wider field of view than the actual shooting area, allowing users to frame shots differently before printing.

The camera charges via USB-C and prints 2 by 3-inch Instax Mini format photos. Users can adjust exposure, white balance, and flash settings for each capture. The device is available in black, a color choice that aligns with Fujifilm's retro design language intended for a younger demographic.

The Instax Mini Evo 2 is priced at $290 and will go on sale at the end of November 2026. It marks the first Instax model to feature an LCD touchscreen, replacing the rear button controls of earlier versions with a full-display interface.
