The Office of the Regional Medical Examiner in St. Charles, Mo., ruled that Robert Kelker-Kelly died of arteriosclerotic heart disease. The medical examiner confirmed the finding to media outlets, stating the manner of death was natural. This official determination ended speculation about the cause of the actor's passing, which occurred on Oct. 3.
Kelker-Kelly was 62 years old at the time of his death. A police report previously shared with media indicated he experienced severe symptoms before he died. The report noted he suffered from pain in his chest and arm.
The actor is best known for his work in American daytime television. He joined the cast of "Days of Our Lives" in 1992 to play Bo Brady. He took over the role from Peter Reckell and performed opposite Kristian Alfonso and Lisa Rinna. Reckell returned to the part in 1995.
Kelker-Kelly continued acting in other series after leaving that role. He portrayed Stavros Cassadine on "General Hospital" from 2001 through 2014. He also appeared in the television series "Port Charles" and "Touched by an Angel." The actor starred in the TV movie "Winter Heat".
His legacy in the industry includes a period of public discussion earlier this year. Lisa Rinna addressed their working relationship in her memoir. She described him as verbally abusive and manipulative while they shared the screen. Kelker-Kelly did not issue a public response to those claims.
