A manhunt is currently sweeping through London as authorities search for a man who slipped away from a secure medical facility in the southeast of the city.
Anthony Lloyd, a 38 year old white man with a medium build and short dark hair, forced his way out of a health unit in Lewisham shortly after 4 pm on Friday. The Metropolitan Police stated that he is considered a risk to both himself and the general public. Witnesses last saw him heading toward Catford around 4:10 pm, where he was wearing a grey blue T shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers. Since then, he has not been located.
Lloyd was originally convicted in 2025 for causing actual bodily harm in an incident in Nottinghamshire that involved three emergency services workers. He received a 12 month prison sentence and was transferred to the Lewisham facility in September. Detective Superintendent Melanie Pressley, who is leading the investigation, said officers are conducting significant inquiries to bring him back into custody. She urged the public to call 999 immediately if they spot him and emphasized that they should not approach him.
The search has expanded beyond the immediate area where Lloyd was last seen. Police believe he could be anywhere in the capital, but they have also noted his connections to several other regions. These links include Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside. This broad geographic focus suggests that investigators are looking into potential places where he might seek shelter or support from people he knows in those areas.
Police are asking residents to stay vigilant and report any sightings. They have issued a specific reference number, CAD4739/23Oct, for callers to quote when providing information. Pressley appealed for help from anyone with details, no matter how small, asking them to contact police as a matter of urgency. The force continues to coordinate its efforts to locate Lloyd and ensure he is safely returned to custody.
